We do things a little different here at Custom Only, Inc. Our company policy and the way we work with our clients work well for a specific kind of group, the kind that wants to make their project the absolute best it can be while maintaining a good budget and schedule.

We have found that the way we work is not for everyone. If you are production oriented and are only interested in how cheap and fast we can slop it together you should not use Custom Only, Inc. If you want the best quality job at the best apples to apples price you need to give us a call.

This section contains answers to questions that will help you decide whether Custom Only, Inc. is the company for you to use.

Do you only do higher end custom work?
Absolutely not..we take on project of all sizes and styles. The name of our company is Custom Only because we treat all projects as custom jobs and give the same attention to detail whether the project is big or small.

Should I only use you for my bigger, more expensive projects?
No!! Apples to apples we will beat any price quote from a competitor as long as your project meets our minimum standards of quality. In other words, if your staircase project has open joints, squeaks or the handrail feels like you could blow it down you probably (hopefully) got it done cheap. We cannot compete with that sort of job because we do not lower ourselves to those standards. There is no charge for estimates, phone calls or meetings so you have nothing to lose in requesting us to see what we can do for you.

Can I get my stair parts from you?
Yes..we make all wood product in our shop to your specifications. If you are a builder with standards you like to maintain (same newel, rail etc.) for all of your projects we will stock up and reserve parts just for you. We can also supply you with metal balusters (the only thing we do not make ourselves).

Are your staircases pre-built?
Although we are happy to provide you with pre-built stairs, we believe site-built staircases to be better. Site conditions, changes to design or materials and working with other deciplines are much easier to do with site built staircases. Pre-built staircases are brought to the site in the framing stage and for production homes that is great. True custom homes, however, requires you to make site adjustments if you are to make the project the best it can be.

Do you work work directly with homeowners?
Most of our projects are with homeowners. Whether the homeowner is their own builder or has hired a builder to manage the construction, we can work with you in a way that suits you best.

Why is it so much more expensive to use anything other than red oak?
We hear this a lot from builders and homeowners. A wood like brazilian cherry, walnut or hickory is desired and the price quote goes up almost 300%. Red oak parts (when purchased) are readily available and anything else is considered "custom". Because we make all of our wood parts everything is custom...but actually everything is "standard". We apply a material and labor factor to all wood species and though non-red oak staircase ARE more expensive, we think you'll be pleased as how much more (or less) of an upgrade they really are.
